End of Month Spending Check

Tomorrow is the last day of the month, and it is time to do an end-of-month spending check. In January, I have been focusing on groceries and food, keeping track of our spending in those areas and saving as much as I can. Writing down what I spend on each trip to the grocery store has helped. While I still don’t have a lot of coupon use, I’m paying more attention to the sales and not buying things that we don’t need, purchasing more fruit and less snacks for example. This has made a difference. I’ve also been more conscious … Continue reading

Do you have a relative that likes to send you email of things that are being passed around the internet? Maybe you have a Facebook friend that posts on their page the same sort of thing that your relative is sending you by email. In every case, check the facts. Not everything you read online is true, especially if it is about health insurance. Today, I was scrolling through the “news” portion of my Facebook page. Keep Your Cooling Bill In Check This Summer

Summer is here, and for many of us that means saying goodbye to sweaters and long sleeves and hello to tank tops, shorts, and flip flops. Although summer clothes are fun and on most days keep us fairly cool and comfortable, there are days when it is very hot outside and you need something more than breezy clothes to keep you cool. There are even some days when it can get dangerously hot and keeping cool becomes less about comfort and more about safety. Air conditioners are a very good way to keep your home cool, but they add quite … Continue reading

Doctor Accepts Cash, Check, or Barter, but Not Insurance

A doctor in Minnesota is running her practice quite a bit differently than most doctors would even consider doing today. In today’s age of health insurance reform and regulation, this is a very interesting choice. Dr. Susan Rutten Wasson sees patients the same day that they ask to be seen, (unless she happens to already be booked up for that day). When was the last time that you were able to … Continue reading
